The Mighty Women magazine

The Mighty Women magazine ~ Daniela Pesconi-Arthur

First Facebook Live… and all the butterflies that came with it!

In Brazil there was an ad that said: “The first bra is unforgettable”, and it showed a very young woman buying her first bra. Super cute.

I would like to borrow that sentence and use it to describe my first(ish) Facebook Live. It was today, and if you missed it (how come???), you can watch it here.

I’d done a couple of lives before, but it still feels like the first one. It’s terrifying. I don’t know where I’m looking, I get my words all confused, I forget what I was going to say… It’s a bit traumatic (dramatic, me? Noooo…)

See, I had my script all planned out. Actually, I’d had it ready for nearly two months! I was going to record it and post it. I would have set up the background, I’d probably have put on make-up, had beautiful shine hair, worn some bling… This is, I had two months to do it. And I didn’t do it. I was afraid, can you believe it? Afraid.

It’s one thing when you do something that not many people are going to see it, or people you’ll never meet are going to see it. But the reason for me to make this video/live was for me to BE SEEN. Ah, ok. It’s a bit different then, right? Fear. This tiny word that gets in the way of us doing such amazing things – for ourselves and for others. Well, FEAR, I defeated you today. And it was awesome! Again, the response I got was unexpected. It filled me with gratitude and hope. And certainty that I am doing the right thing, and that it’s not my lack of make up, or my hair a bit messy that it’s going to scare people away.

What you got in that video is me, the “raw” Daniela. The same one who hasn’t got a clue about filming herself – yet. The very same one that gets self-conscious in front of a camera, and won’t even let her husband see her filming – yet. The Daniela, an ordinary woman, and at the same time so mighty – just like every one of you!

I just wanted to leave with you my “script”. Well, it’s already written, and it’s kind of cool, so why waste? 😉

Here it goes:

You is kind, you is smart, you is important.

~ Kathryn Stockett, The Help

You are also frigging shy, and terrified of posting this video. You’ll spend a few minutes (hours, DAYS) debating inside your head and may even decide to delete it.

DON’T DO IT. It’ll be ok. The first video is always the hardest. (Deep breath)

You is kind, you is smart, you is important.

I love this line from the book/film “The Help”, and I say it to myself every day!

Ok, so here we go for my first(ish) YouTube video. First, the introductions. I’m Daniela – Dani -, Brazilian living in Wales, UK, 41 years and 11 months old, teacher, writer and founder of The Mighty Women and The Writing Shed Printables.

Oldest daughter, oldest sister (obviously) and wife. Not a mother – yet. Slowly finding my place and purpose in the world.

Puppies lover, bookworm, owner of a cinema unlimited card, and beach lover – in whatever weather condition.

Very sensitive; will surely cry watching some films. I hate – yep, that strongly – injustice and prejudice of any kind. Stationery obsessed (especially cute notebooks, pens and writing paper). I have very itchy feet, and love airports and hotels!

My middle sister calls me Pollyanna, because I always try to see the good side of things.

I believe in God with all my heart, and have experienced His love im my life many, many times.

“Chocoholic” (I don’t like white chocolate, but if it’s the only one available, hey, it’s chocolate, right?)

I will almost always say “yes” to an invite for a coffee. Caramel latte and gingerbread latte are my favourites. Oh, and the perfect Italian espresso, of course.

Why The Mighty Women magazine?

My 11 reasons why:

I want The Mighty Women magazine to read – and help – as many women as possible to learn or re-learn to love themselves, reach their ultimate potential, and become the best version of themselves that they can be.

I want to give women a platform where they can read amazing personal and professional development content.

I believe in women supporting and empowering women, no strings attached; just for the goodness and growth of the community around them.

I believe that each one of us is UNIQUE and has a purpose in life. If you need a bit of direction like I needed once, I want The Mighty Women magazine articles and our community to help you.

I want to connect with YOU, amazing women!
